The curriculum at The English College reflects our philosophy and aims. It is broad and balanced, recognises UK guidelines and fulfils the requirements of the UK National Curriculum and beyond.
The school provides education that is suited to all students and there is great emphasis on academic excellence. Students need to secure the best achievable qualifications. However, the school firmly believes that the value of the curriculum goes beyond purely what is examinable.
The curriculum is broken up into three Key Stages:
In Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9, Ages 11 – 14) the students follow English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Art, Computing, Drama, Geography, History, French, Spanish, Personal Social Health Education, Music, Physical Education and Dance. At the end of Year 9 students are provided with advice to help guide them about their GCSE options.
In Key Stage 4 (Years 10 – 11, Ages 14 – 16) the students follow a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education ICT, Arabic (Arabic passport holders only), Islamic Studies (muslim students only). Students also choose 4 GCSEs from the following optional subjects. They are given a free choice and every effort is made to meet those choices.

In Key Stage 5 (Years 12 – 13, Ages 16 – 18) the school has created a vibrant, friendly and happy community, where every student is valued and given individual attention, so that they are able to flourish and leave the college as a confident, accomplished, well-rounded individual, fully prepared for the challenges of Higher Education and work in the 21st Century. Most of our students proceed to higher education; the college has an excellent record of success in university entrance.
